Scots College is a world-class, independent day and boarding school in Strathmore, Wellington. It has been educating boys for nearly 100 years and is currently undertaking the most significant building project in its history.
The Creative and Performing Arts Centre and the Covered Sports Centre are two separate projects under one umbrella, both managed by Impact Project Management.
The Creative and Performing Arts Centre will provide educational facilities for drama, graphics, art, music, robotics and much more. The demolition phase of the Creative and Performing Arts Centre project began during the wet June and July school holidays. Despite the wet winter and spring months of 2010, the project is currently running to schedule, with facilities available to students in early 2012.
To ensure the delivery of a world-class facility, Scots has sought and been given expert advice from many people, including Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor from Weta Workshop. Further advice has been sought from the renowned Athfield Architects and Impact Project Management.
The count down for the completion of the Creative (CPAC) and Performing Arts Centre opening is in its final days. The purpose-built three-storey building is really starting to shine! Carpet has been laid, vibrant paint colours have been applied and amenities are being installed. The overall facilities will be second to none, offering excellent space for the college’s combined arts – music, drama, art and creative technology. All that remains for the Construction team are some final commissioning, a final clean and some external landscaping work.
Delivery of the new furniture and fittings are well underway and the doors to the Creative and Performing Arts Centre will be open for the first term in 2012 as originally programmed.
